The Last Order by Engine Café

Area: 2000 SQ FT
Completed: Dec 2024
Location: Surat

The Last Order by Engine Café is imagined as a warm, late-hour retreat where craft, comfort, and character come together. The design builds on the café’s identity, translating its industrial roots into a more refined, atmospheric setting. Soft lighting, tactile materials, and intimate spatial pockets create a place meant for unhurried conversations, quiet breaks, and familiar rituals—especially for those looking to unwind long after the usual cafés have closed.

The spatial planning blends functionality with mood, ensuring the café’s flow supports both efficient service and a relaxed guest experience. A balance of high-energy zones near the counter and calmer corners along the perimeter gives visitors freedom to choose their own tempo. Material choices reflect a subtle industrial vocabulary—textured surfaces, warm metals, and grounded tones—crafted to feel inviting rather than raw, giving the space its distinct sense of quiet sophistication.

Lighting plays a defining role, shifting the ambience from dusk to late night with soft gradients, focused accents, and gentle shadows that elevate the café’s identity. Seating is intentionally varied to accommodate solo guests, small groups, and lingering conversations, while acoustics are tuned to maintain intimacy even during busier hours. Together, these elements create a café that embraces the night, offering a thoughtfully designed sanctuary for Surat’s late-hour community.
