Office For Ashish Maloo

Completed: Mar 2024
Location: Surat

This textile showroom and office space masterfully balances commercial functionality with elevated design sensibility, creating an environment that showcases garments as art while maintaining professional workspace efficiency. The design centers around a dramatic sculptural element—a coral-orange mushroom-shaped column with intricate diamond-pattern cladding that serves as both structural anchor and striking focal point. This bold architectural gesture establishes the brand's creative identity from the moment visitors enter, while its geometric patterning echoes the precision and craft inherent in textile design.

The material palette demonstrates sophisticated restraint, pairing textured pale wood-grain wall panels with cool gray flooring to create a neutral gallery-like backdrop that allows the colorful garments to command attention. Continuous cove lighting traces the perimeter where walls meet ceiling, washing the textured surfaces with warm illumination that enhances their dimensional quality while providing ambient light throughout. The showroom features ingenious wall-mounted display systems with adjustable rose-gold metal rods that can be configured in various geometric arrangements, offering flexible merchandising options while maintaining a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Custom presentation tables in dark finishes with walnut accents provide surface area for fabric examination and client consultations.

Workspaces are thoughtfully integrated throughout, featuring custom desks in gray laminate with vibrant orange accent panels and perforated metal modular components that inject energy and brand personality. Glass-fronted offices maintain visual openness while providing acoustic privacy, with frosted and clear panels creating layered transparency. The ceiling treatment varies by zone—some areas feature sculptural curved golden metal slats that add warmth and dynamic movement, while others employ clean gray panels with recessed details. Graphic wall treatments featuring abstract typography and Bauhaus-inspired geometric compositions in yellow, orange, and black add visual interest to work areas, reinforcing the creative nature of the textile business. Mid-century modern seating in tan leather and simple potted greenery complete the curated aesthetic, proving that functional commercial spaces can be both beautiful and purposeful.
