Showroom for XYLUS

This ergonomic chair showroom reimagines product display as experiential theatre, where seating becomes the protagonist in carefully choreographed spatial narratives. The design moves beyond conventional retail to create an immersive environment that educates visitors about comfort, posture, and workplace wellness through interactive vignettes. Curved architectural elements and sculptural ceiling treatments guide movement through the space, while individual display alcoves frame each chair series as a distinct design story, inviting tactile exploration and extended trial periods that transform browsing into meaningful product engagement.
Material restraint amplifies product focus through a sophisticated neutral palette. Textured grey walls finished in micro-cement or specialized plaster provide soft, non-competitive backdrops that highlight chair silhouettes and upholstery colors. Light oak vinyl flooring introduces warmth underfoot while maintaining commercial durability, and elevated platforms wrapped in woven grey textile create distinct presentation zones that elevate products both literally and perceptually. Backlit translucent panels in soft mint green serve dual purposes as informational surfaces and ambient light sources, their gradient glow drawing attention while communicating technical specifications and ergonomic features through integrated graphics.
Lighting architecture operates as the primary curatorial tool, sculpting drama and hierarchy across the showroom. Organic ceiling forms in white contrast dramatically with exposed black grid systems, their sinuous edges framing recessed circular LED panels that provide broad ambient illumination. Adjustable track-mounted spotlights allow flexible accent lighting that emphasizes specific models or seasonal collections, while the backlit display niches create halo effects that make chairs appear to float within architectural frames. This layered approach ensures products remain visually prominent throughout varying daylight conditions, supporting both casual exploration and focused comparison within a gallery-like atmosphere that elevates functional furniture into objects of considered design appreciation.
